On 3rd December 1894 (Mabon's Day), an athletics meeting was held at the Queens Hotel Athletics Grounds. The events included bicycle races, running, jumping and tug of war. The newspaper advert mentions "Substantial prizes and a Spendid track." Admission 6d postponed from 5th November owing to inclement weather.
